A funeral service will be held for Lillie Jewel Dawsey-Kennison on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre, with Pastor Benny Reppond officiating. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Lillie Jewel Dawsey-Kennison, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, at the RollingBrook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Baytown Texas. She was born on June 13, 1930, in Noxapater, Mississippi. Jewel's warm and caring personality made her a cherished member of her community.

Jewel had an incredible talent for cooking. Family gatherings were never complete without her delicious meals filling the air with mouthwatering aromas. Her culinary skills were renowned among her relatives and friends who eagerly gathered around the table to savor her culinary creations. Jewel cherished these moments with all those dear to her heart; she valued family above all else.

Jewel's journey was marked by profound love and companionship. In her early years, she met and married Fred Henry Dawsey. Together they charted their path in life until destiny led them to part in death. Eventually, Jewel found love once again when she married Raul "RJ" Kennison. Their union brought immeasurable joy into Jewel's life.

Jewel is proceeded in death by her, sons Gregory, Marvin, Karl Dawsey, and Randy Kennison her step daughters, Robin Kennison and Roxanne Kennison.

Jewel leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her children, Glenda Werner of Crosby, Texas; Wanda Chastain of Crosby, Texas;  Dickey Kennison and his Fran of Sulphur, LA., Charlotte Nezat, and her husband Ricky of Port Barre, Beryl Stoute and her husband, Wes of Port Barre, Brenda Higdon and her husband Glenn of Port Barre, sister Mary "Sally" Gladys Dupuy of Baton Rouge; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jewel's impact on their lives will forever be cherished, and her memory will live on through the love and values she instilled in each of them.
