Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Mrs. Lillian Janice Delafosse, known to many as Taunte Tee. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Father Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass
Lillian was a native of Whiteville and longtime resident of Opelousas, LA. She passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 83. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Neighborhood Rosary Group.
She looked forward to gatherings with his family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest and cherished each moment. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include one son, Ted Delafosse and wife, Shelia of Carencro two daughters, Patsy Delafosse Guilbeau and husband, James of Port Arthur, TX and Deborah Debbie Delafosse Pitre and husband, Carl of Opelousas two sisters, Betty J. Miller of Scott and Annie J. Fontenot of Opelousas grandchildren: Chad Pitre, Adam Delafosse, April Delafosse, Charlene Pitre, and Daniel Delafosse and great grandchildren, Hunter Pitre, Marek Pitre, and Emilie Pitre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Delafosse her parents, Alphonse Janice and Philomene Higginbotham Janice brother, Paul Janice and sisters, Cecil Mequet, Irene Richard, and Theresa Doucet.
Pallbearers will be Chad Pitre, Ted Delafosse, Daniel Delafosse, Al P. Janice, Mitch Mequet, Carl Anthony Richard, James Miller, and Niraj Naik. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Pitre, James Guilbeau, Ajit Naik, Ojes Naik, John David Miller and Riley Doucet.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
