Port Barre--  Funeral service will be held for Lessie Hobgood on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Lessie, a beloved homemaker known for her loving and caring spirit, passed away peacefully in her home in Port Barre, Louisiana, on August 28, 2024. She was born on January 7, 1962, in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she spent her formative years surrounded by family friends.

Lessie's warmth and compassion touched the lives of many who were fortunate to know her. She embraced her role as a homemaker with dedication, pouring her heart into creating a nurturing environment for her loved ones. Her thoughtfulness and kindness were hallmarks of her character, reflecting her deep commitment to family.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Shelton Hobgood, Jr., who has been a cherished partner in her life journey. Lessie is also survived by her mother, Beverly N. Cortez ; sister, Anita Eyster, of Lafayette, who will carry fond memories of their time together.

She was preceded in death by her father, Drew Cortez, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable person she became.

Lessie Hobgood will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and familial devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
