Leroy Ledet

Port Barre -Funeral services for Leroy Ledet will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015, in the First Baptist Church in Port Barre. Rev. Benji Richard will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas with military honors.
Leroy was a native of Notleyville and a longtime resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 87. Leroy enjoyed being outdoors gardening. He was a dedicated sports fan and would watch the LSU and Saints football games. He worked for Cary Ironworks for several years as a bookkeeper until his retirement. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 8678 of Port Barre and the Reed Davis Memorial Funeral Honor Guard of Port Barre. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lillie Dawsey Ledet of Port Barre; four sons, Dennis Wayne Ledet and wife, Terri of Ruston; David Keith Ledet of Port Barre; Richard Dean Ledet of Erwinville; and Charles Darrell Ledet of Port Barre; two sisters, Betty Dowden of Port Barre; and Peggy Matt of Duson; five grandchildren, Kristen Bissell and husband, Mattieu of Ruston; Jason Ledet and wife, Abby of Houston; Nicholas Ledet currently stationed in Afghanistan; Hannah Ledet of Port Barre; and Bryce Ledet of Church Point; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Lily, and Emma Bissell all of Ruston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie W. Ledet and Evangeline Arceneaux Ledet.
The family requests that visitation be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre.
