Opelousas Funeral services for Leonard Jacob Jake Cramer I, age 72, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 12, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Ronde. Father Ted Broussard will officiate the services.
Jake, a native of Roberts Cove, was a longtime resident of Prairie Ronde. He died on Friday, December 9, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System, surrounded by his family.
Faith, family, and friends were most important to Jake, a devout Catholic and father of 8. A farmer mechanic, he loved the land, being outdoors, cooking, and spending time laughing and sharing with family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Catherine Gossen Cramer, of Opelousas his children, John Cramer and his wife, Toby, of Breaux Bridge Stephen Cramer, of Prairie Ronde Doug Cramer and his wife, Amy, of Prairie Ronde Jacob Cramer II and his wife, Charlotte, of Carencro Sharon Guillory and her husband, Doug, of Carencro Annette Roberts and her husband, Jim, of Melbourne, FL and Pam Delhommer and her husband, John, of Maurice, LA his brothers, Anthony and Michael Cramer, both of Roberts Cove, LA his sisters, Sr. Clare Cramer of Lafayette, Angelina Gonthier of Crowley, Barbara DuBose of Lake Charles, Bernadette Guidry of Rayne, Theresa Doucet of Rayne, and Loretta Boudreaux of Roberts Cove and sixteen grandchildren: Sarah Guillory Palmer, Jennifer Guillory, Jonathan Delhommer, Andrea Delhommer, Christopher Roberts, Zachary Roberts, Erin Guillory, Caleb Delhommer, Rachel Roberts, Anna Guillory, Mary Cramer, Jacob Cramer III, Annie Cramer, Garrett Delhommer, Maggie Cramer, and Carolyn Cramer.
Jake was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Cramer his parents, Jacob and Mary Habetz Cramer and his sister, Alberta Hebert.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, December 11, 2011, from 3 PM until 9:00 PM. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 AM until 10:30 AM.
A rosary service will be held Sunday evening at 6:30 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
