Lena Mae Jannise

Lena Mae Jannise, a devoted homemaker and a beloved member of her family, passed away peacefully at her home on April 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on May 11, 1948, in Port Barre, Lena graced the lives of many with her loving spirit and nurturing nature.

As a homemaker, Lena dedicated her life to her family, instilling values of love, compassion, and resilience in her children and grandchildren. Her warm heart and selfless acts of kindness enveloped her home, making it a sanctuary for all who entered. Lena's legacy will forever be cherished by her family who held her in the highest regard.

Lena is survived by her son James Jannise, Jr. of Breaux Bridge, and her sons Edval Jannise and Lonnie Jannise (Jennifer), both of Opelousas. Her daughters Tina Dupree (Kevin) of Sunset, Tammy Bellon (Michael) of Ville Platte, and Tessie Jannise of Opelousas carry on her enduring legacy of love. She is also deeply missed by her brother Ovide Stelly, Jr. of Texas, and her sisters Betty Bodin of Krotz Springs, Margaret Nacol of LaPorte, Texas, Virgie LeBlanc of Port Barre, and Janice Dekerlegand of Port Barre. Her loving family also includes 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, James Jannise Sr., her parents, Ovide and Octavia Richard Stelly, her sisters, Joyce LeBlanc and Susan Stelly, her brother, Robert Stelly. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

In this time of sorrow, Lena Mae Jannise will be remembered not only for her loving nature but also for the profound impact she made on the lives of her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
