Leether Ryder Robin

Port Barre Funeral services for Leether Ryder Robin, 84, will be held at 11:00AM Saturday February 3, 2007, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Sacred Heart Church Mausoleum.

Rev. Nicky Trahan will conduct the services.

Leether R. Robin, a native of Waxia, LA and longtime resident of Port Barre, died at 10:15AM Thursday, February 2, 2007 at residence in Port Barre.

Mrs. Robin was one of the first lady welders who went to work at Engles shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. building all welded ships for the military during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Robin owned and operated Robin's Grocery in Port Barre for 57 years.

Survivors include: two sons, Roy Gab Robin II and wife Mary and Mark Robin, all of Port Barre; 4 daughters, Mary Beth Robin of Lafayette, Cecilia Kay Boutte of New Orleans, Julia Robin of Port Barre and Claire Dronet and husband Darrell of Lafayette; a brother, Shelby Ryder of Port Barre; 3 sisters, Veneita Grimmett of Port Barre, Ruby Moreau of Leonville and Patsy Morgan of Port Barre; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Ms. Robin was preceded in death by her parents Addie and Mary Pastorick Ryder; husband Roy Robin and a brother, Ivan Buck Ryder.
