Opelousas-Funeral services will be held for Lee Bruce Aucoin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Services will be conducted by Deacon Tom Lindsey. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Bellevue Memorial Park with military honors at the graveside.
Lee was a native of Mamou and longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 92. He joined the U. S. Army and served his country during WWII. He was employed with the St. Landry Parish School Board and drove a school bus for many years until his retirement. He also did numerous woodworking projects as a pastime. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas for many years. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Roderick Aucoin and wife, Lori Marmillion Aucoin of Baton Rouge; Malcolm Aucoin and wife, Elise Myers Aucoin of Marshall, TX; and James Aucoin and wife, Diane Soileau Aucoin of Bunkie; one daughter, Linda Billeaudeaux of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Edward Aucoin of Lake Charles; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emeze Aucoin and Edness Guillory Aucoin; son-in-law, David Billeaudeaux; and former wife, Rebecca Aucoin.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
