Leonville Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Gauthreaux Thibodeaux, age 77, and Mr. Lawrence A. Thibodeaux, Sr. age 78, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery. Father Ken Domingue will officiate the Mass.
Mrs. Thibodeaux was a resident of Notleyville. She died on Monday, January 14, 2008, in the LA Extended Care Hospital of Lafayette.
Mr. Thibodeaux was a native of Leonville and a long-time resident of Notleyville. He died on Thursday, January 17, 2008, in the Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visitation on Mrs. Mabel began on Thursday, January 17, 2008, from 2 p.m.-10 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary service was held at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home. On Friday, visitation continued for Mrs. Mabel in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m. on Friday, visitation continued for Mrs. Mabel and Mr. Lawrence from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will resume in the funeral home from 8 a.m. 12:30 p.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
Mr. Thibodeaux was a native of Leonville and a long-time resident of Notleyville. He died on Thursday, January 17, 2008, in the Lafayette General Medical Center.
He was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church of Leonville. He was a U. S. Veteran and was also a member of the American Legion in Leonville. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who loved him.
He is survived by one son, Lawrence Larry Thibodeaux and wife, Anne of Carencro; two daughters: Cheryl Rivette and husband, John Curley Rivette of Rayne; and Kathy Pitre and husband, Steven W. Pitre of Notleyville; one brother, ; five grandchildren: David Rivette, Kevin Rivette, Brandon Pitre, Andre Pitre, and Emily Mohn; and four great-grandchildren: John Myer Rivette, Laynie Rivette; Haley Rivette; and Kaylee Mohn.
