Lawrence Noel, Sr.

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Lawrence Noel, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Greg Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Lawrence was a native and long time resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Senior Village Nursing Home at the age of 76. He was a veteran of the United States Navy who proudly served his country for 2 years. He enjoyed watching all sports especially football and baseball. He loved camping, cooking bar-b-que, and spending time with his family. He was retired from the City of Opelousas for after working for 23 years as the plant operator. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eugenie "Jean" Meyers Noel of Opelousas; sons, Lawrence "Boobie" Noel, Jr. and wife, Ellen of Opelousas; Gerald Keith Noel and wife, Cindy of Opelousas; and Kevin James Noel of Opelousas; brother-in-law, J. V. Richard of Port Barre; 3 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild; 4 great grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Noel and Margaret Sittig Noel and his sibilings.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence "Boobie" Noel, Jr., Gerald K. Noel, Kevin J. Noel, Derek Noel, Kyle Ford, and Cory Melancon.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, April 12, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. The funeral home will reopen on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
