Lawrence B. Leger, Sr.
Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence B. Leger, Sr., age 73, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Father Nicky Trahan will officiate the services.
Mr. Leger was a native of the Grand Prairie area and long-time resident of Port Barre. He died at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2007, in St. Landry Extended Care in Opelousas. He was a Farmer and an avid hunter. He loved fishing and enjoyed his crawfish farm. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Soileau Leger of Port Barre; three sons: Lawrence, Punkim Leger, Jr. of Port Barre; Daniel Craig Leger of Port Barre; and Terry Wade Leger, Sr. and wife, Lena of Port Barre; one daughter, Gloria Deville and husband, Roger of Port Barre; three brothers: Eddie Leger, Jr. of Opelousas; Martin Sonny Leger, Sr. and wife, Cindy of Leonville; and Leroy Leger and wife, Cheryl of Port Barre; five sisters: Jane Vidrine of Port Barre; Pearl Deville and husband, Dave of Washington; Neva Lee Vidrine and husband, Everette Beb of Port Barre; Leona Foreman of Opelousas; and Marie Comeaux of Mamou; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Leger was preceded in death by his parents: Eddie Leger, Sr. and Hester Marie Dupre Leger.
Visiting hours will be observed on Friday, December 21, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre beginning at 3:00 p.m with an all night wake until the time of services on Saturday. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
