Lawrence "Popcorn" Kelly

Opelousas- Funeral Services for Lawrence "Popcorn" Kelly will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Port Barre, La. Deacon Dewayne Joubert will conduct the Funeral Service.
Lawrence was a native of Port Barre and a resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at his residence at the of age of 80. Lawrence served his Country in the U.S. Army and then worked in the oilfield as a welder. He loved to work in his shop building and repairing things. He loved spending time outdoors, especially cooking for his family and friends. Lawrence is going to be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Mavis Deville Kelly of Opelousas; sons, Brayton Kelly of Opelousas, Dale Kelly and wife Missy of Youngsville; brothers, Irvin LaGrange of Opelousas, Joe Kelly of Opelousas; sister, Verna Mae Vidrine of Opelousas; grandchildren, Tylor Kelly and Noah Kelly of Youngsville.

He was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Esther Duplechain Kelly.

Pallbearers will be Brayton Kelly, Dale Kelly, Tylor Kelly and Noah Kelly.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
The family of Mr. Lawrence would like to give a special thank you to Dad's angel and nurse, Debra Cormier, RN; everyone at Hospice of Acadiana, Deacon Davis and Javella Raheem.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana in memory of Lawrence Kelly.
