Laurie "Jean" Grimmett

Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for Laurie Grimmett on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Pastor Perry Hubbs and Pastor R.E. Clark will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.

Laurie,87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

She was born on October 15, 1932 in Kilgor, Texas to John R. and Iva Ruth Harvey Milsted.

Affectionately called “Jean” by her family, she loved to shop, travel, and take her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Sunday school and church.

She is survived by her children, Trudy Richard Clark and husband R.E. of Centerton, AR, Keven Grimmett and wife Felecia of Port Barre, and Carolyn Faith Grimmett of Port Barre; grandchildren, Lainey Richard Estis, Sicily Richard Quebedeaux, David “Bubba” Richard, Willis Jordan Richard, Estee Grimmett Leger, Riley Grimmett, Noah James Grimmett, Lane Celeste Grimmett, Ashley Grimmett Reed, and Laurie Elizabeth Grimmett; sisters, Judy Wimberly of Eunice and Janice “Blondie” Crosby of Fordoche; 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and Baby Hobson coming this year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, W.J. Grimmett; brothers, John Harvey Milsted and Thomas Jerry Milsted; sister, Janet “Blackie” Wisner; son-in-law, Port Barre Police Chief David Richard; and her great-great-granddaughter Keely Reece Leger.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
