Laurence Laura Marks Carriere
Pecaniere Funeral services for Mrs. Laurence Laura Marks Carriere, 84, will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville. Interment will follow in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery in Leonville. Father Vincent Dufresne of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs will celebrate the Mass. Music will be provided by Ron Moreau.
Mrs. Carriere was a native of Port Barre, LA and a long time resident of Pecaniere, LA. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 10:05 a.m. at the Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Unit. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who devoted her life to her family and her God. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include four daughters: Martha C. Martin of Denham Springs; Audrey Pastorick and husband, Vernon of Baton Rouge; Bonnie Bergeron and husband, Robert of Pecaniere; and Susan E. Carriere of Lafayette. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Other special people in her life were her very special friend of 35 years, Claude Rock Devillier of Pecaniere; and her godchild, William Marks of Youngsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney A. Carriere; her parents: Frank and Elena Landry Marks; sisters: Marie and Eva Marks; brothers: Moise, Clayus, Felix, George and John Marks; and son-in-law, Albert J. Scoonie Martin.
Visiting hours will be observed on Monday, June 4, 2007, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the Mass following in Leonville.
