Laura Sue Gilchrist Whisenhunt

Opelousas Funeral services for Ms. Laura Whisenhunt, age 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services.

Ms. Whisenhunt was a native of Lawtell, LA and a resident of Centerville. She died at 5:35 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2007, at her Residence. She was a Teacher in the Louisiana Public School System for over 20 years, she also taught at Lawtell Elementary. She was also a long time member of the General Federation of Womens Club.

Survivors include her son: Jackie Whisenhunt and wife, Brenda of Papillion, Ne; two daughters; Johnnie Taylor and husband, Ronald of Lawtell, La, Amanda Lanclos and husband, Mickey of Centerville, La; one brother, Gordon Gilchrist and wife, Georgia of Fort Payne, Al; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Whisenhunt was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Troy and Johnnie Hulsey Gilchrist; and her three brothers: Archie, T.A., and Billy Gilchrist.

Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, beginning at5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from9:00 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home.
