Opelousas- Funeral Services for Mr. Kenny Burke Veillon will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Fr. Austin Leger will officiate the services.
Kenny was a native of Ville Platte and a resident of Opelousas. He died on Tuesday, April 19, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 88. He worked as an offshore cook for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the WWII. He was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, and going to the camp. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his two grandchildren, Chad Darbonne and wife, Joli of Angola; and Chantel Guice of Opelousas; ten great-grandchildren, Logan Darbonne, Lyndsey Darbonne, Holden Darbonne, Charlie Richard, Nicholas Yates Darbonne, Aron Prevost, Mckenzie Prevost, Morgan Darbonne Timothy Devers, and Bailey Devers; and one great-great-grandchild, Sawyer Nettles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Soileau Veillon; his daughter, Brenda Ann Veillon; one grandson, Nicholas James Darbonne; and his parents, Merrant Veillon and Eza Manuel Veillon.
The visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, in the Sibille Funeral Home. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
