Kay Guidroz

Opelousas Funeral services for Kay Thomason, known to many as Kay Thomason Guidroz, age 63, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Louisiana United Memorial Methodist Church in Opelousas.

Kay was born in DeQuincy, lived many years in Baton Rouge, and was currently residing in Opelousas. She died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Opelousas General Health System.

She was a past graduate of Opelousas High School and was a Yamette for two years. She was an active business woman in the community, worked as an insurance adjuster for many years, and was also part owner of the Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio in Opelousas. She became a Real Estate Agent, a Cub ScoutBoy Scout Troop Leader, adviser for the AIA Document Committee, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Star. She was a loving mother, daughter, and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include one daughter, Amy Laverne Guidroz of Opelousas her mother, Laverne Kendall Thomason of Opelousas one grandson, Seth Todd Guidroz of Opelousas many nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Beady Bartly Thomason and her son, Todd Thomason Guidroz.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, in the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church, 515 E. Bellevue St., Opelousas.

Donations can be made in Kays memory to the following charities: Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Hospital.
