Katie Stringer Smith

Melville- Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Katie Stringer Smith, age 89, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2009, in the Melville Baptist Church Cemetery. She died on Tuesday, May 21, 2009, at Cypress Glen Health Center in Port Arthur, Texas.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Palestine, Mississippi and was a former resident of Melville. She had lived In Bridge City for the past nine years. She was a homemaker and member of the Melville Baptist Church.

Katie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl and Sharon Boyd of Raymond, Mississippi; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Ben Ezell of Bridge City, Texas; sister, Laverne Guion of Jackson, Ms.; brother and sister-in-law, William N. and Lorraine Stringer of Hermanville, Ms.; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Clifton Boyd and Lawrence E. Smith; sisters, Abbie Stringer, Alice Lidell and Nellavie Stringer.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday.
