Kathleen Lois Bruner DeJean

Port Barre Funeral services for Kathleen Kat DeJean will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.

Kathleen passed away peacefully on February 1, 2014, in Lafayette surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and many friends. She was a native of Port Barre, Louisiana. She graduated from Spencer Business College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kathleen was employed by American Bank and Trust in Opelousas until her retirement. She loved to dance, always smiled and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. DeJean, her son, Warren G. DeJean Jr., Bootsie, her parents, Freda Andrus Bruner and Elton Dewy Bruner, Sr. and her brother, Elton Dewy Bruner, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth W. DeJean and his companion, Becky Credeur of Lafayette her daughters, Kathleen Lois DeJean Kersting Jeff Kersting of New Orleans and Diane Claire DeJean Balchunas Bill Balchunas of Pensacola, Florida and her grandchildren, Natalie DeJean and her fiance, Logan Trotter Caroline DeJean, Graham Burk, Lauren Rushing, Blake Rushing, Caroline Balchunas, and James Balchunas.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth W. DeJean, Bill Balchunas, Jeff Kersting, Logan Trotter, Pat J. Boudreaux, and Danny Duhon.

The family would like to thank Maison de Lafayette for the loving care they provided her for the last year. The family also wishes to thank Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for the loving support they provided to Kathleen and the family towards the end of her life.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home, 402 Saizan Avenue, Port Barre, Louisiana, 70577 3375856812. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
