Karl Speyrer

Leonville Funeral services for Mr. Karl Steven Speyrer, age 54, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville. Private Interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery at a later date. Father Tommy Finley will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Karl was a resident of Metairie, LA, and passed away on February 18, 2012, at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA.
He was a retired Captain with the Jefferson Parish Fire Department with 28 years of service to his community. An enthusiastic photographer who enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and duck hunting, Karl will be sorely missed by all, including his canine companion Sophia.
He is survived by his significant other, Jetta Cook son, Robert Steven Speyrer daughter, Rachel Ann Speyrer all of Metairie two brothers, James Phillip Speyrer, Jr. and wife, Connie of Rayne and David A. Speyrer and wife, Doreen of Metairie two sisters, Monica S. Bonura of Harahan and Jennifer Raheja and husband, Robert of Clarksburg, Maryland five nephews, three nieces, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Phillip Speyrer, Sr. and Shirley Cummings Speyrer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, from 11 am to 1 pm in the St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville. A Rosary service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday in the church.
