Port Barre-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Karen LeJeune at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Karen was a resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2017, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 58.
As a devout Christian, she was known for her encouraging and spiritually uplifting nature. She enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family, friends, and beloved grandchildren. Karen adored her dachshund, Dixie, very much. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and was loved deeply by all who knew her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years, David LeJeune of Port Barre, mother, Lourey Soileau of Lawtell, sons, Jeremy LeJeune and his wife, Lacie of Opelousas, and Brandon LeJeune and his wife, Lacy of Port Barre, brother, Brent Soileau of Lawtell, sisters, Stepanie Hayes of Mesa, AZ., Jessica Lalonde and her fiancé, Kevin Latiolais of Prairie Ronde, and Francine Poole and her husband, Hoyet of Opelousas, seven grandchildren, Kamron, Braylon, Greyson, Evan, Aidan, Nadia and Della LeJeune, and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Soileau.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
