Judy St. Amand

OPELOUSAS – A Requiem Mass for a repose of the soul of Judy Stanford St. Amand will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Fr. Francis Miller, OFM will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Landry Cemetery (Msgr. Louis Melancon Mausoleum) in Opelousas.

Judy, age 72, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette surrounded by her loving family.

Judy was a well-known seamstress for over 30 years in the Opelousas and surrounding areas. She worked for A&A sewing center and sewed costumes for the Krewe of Corinth for over 10 years. Judy was known for her willingness to help others and she did so during the pandemic by sewing mask for healthcare workers. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Albert “Paul” St. Amand; sons, Joel Swanson (Adriana), Lorne Boni (Hannah), Craig St. Amand (Beth), Richard “Mark” St. Amand and Guy “Chris” St. Amand (Helen); siblings, Deanna Wootan, Donald Stanford (Carol), Sherman Stanford, Steve Stanford (Maggie), Julien Standford (Silvia), Dwight Stanford (Kayla), Faith Stanford (Don) and Mark Stanford; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a special cousin, Gerald Thibodeaux; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Roland and Emma Stanford; grandson, Gregory St. Amand; and brother-in-law, Eugene Wootan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary service will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. by Fr. Francis Miller, OFM. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Judy’s brothers.
