Opelousas Funeral services for Juanita Richard Cuny, 97, will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, November 26, 2006, in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, with interment following in the Bellevue Memorial Park, both in Opelousas .

Rev. Jefferson DeBlanc will conduct the services.

Juanita Richard Cuny, a native and resident of Opelousas, died at 4:30PM Thursday November 23, 2006 at Doctors Hospital of Opelousas.

Mrs. Cuny was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart College in Grand Coteau with a degree in teaching. Mrs. Cuny taught school until she married and then returned to teaching after raising her children.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Alter Society.

Mrs. Cuny was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful and devout Catholic until her death. Mrs. Cuny enjoyed spending as much time possible with her loving family and when she was not with the family, she was an avid reader.
PSurvivors include: three sons, Ronald Joseph Cuny, Sr. and wife Priscilla Richard of Opelousas, Richard Anthony Dick Cuny and wife Joyce of Mobile, Al., and John Ernest Cuny and wife Barbara of Danville, KY; 6 daughters, Rosemary Cuny Roy of Port Arthur, TX, Cecile Valerie Cuny Gaspard and husband Sidney of Groves, TX, Juanita Marie Cuny Tiller of Dallas, TX, Patricia Ann Cuny Duplechain and husband Lodis Buddy of Melville, Elizabeth Joy Cuny Pritchard and husband Jimmy of Mobile, Al, and Mary Louise Cuny Vinson of Lakeland, Fl; 29 grandchildren and 44 great grandch
