Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church for Mrs. Joyce Stelly Bourque. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen and Rev. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will concelebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Joyce Stelly Bourque was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas, Louisiana. She died on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 77. She was a devoted Catholic who had a strong faith. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked in the banking industry for 37 years and retired as Vice President of First National Bank of Acadiana. She was Louisiana Chapter Chairman of the National Association of Bank Women (1978-1979). After retiring from banking, she worked for Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church for 17 years. She was the proud recipient of the Devoted Service Award from the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette.
Joyce is survived by her sons, David Bourque and wife, Paula of Opelousas; and Huey Bourque and wife, Annie of Sunset; her daughter, Melissa Myers and husband, Kurt of Opelousas; brothers, Warren Stelly and wife, Marlene of Lafayette; Willis Stelly and wife, Connie of Baton Rouge; Raymond Stelly and wife, Brenda of Baton Rouge; Jay Stelly and wife, Judy of Lafayette; and Tommy Stelly of Lafayette; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. She was the proud Godparent of nine people.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Bourque; her parents, Joseph Andy Stelly and Zetta Reed Stelly.
Pallbearers will be Rusty, Thomas, Jay, Eric, and Mike Bourque; and Logan Stelly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in memory of Mrs. Joyce to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
On Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, a Rosary service will be held at 10:00 a.m. which will be followed by the Eulogy service.
