Joyce Benoit

Opelousas– A Memorial Mass of Christian will be held for Joyce Olivier Benoit on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley. Fr. Jonathon Janice will officiate the Mass. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until mass time in the church; the rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Joyce, age 83, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce worked several jobs during her lifetime including homemaker and retiring with the St. Landry Parish School Board as a cafeteria worker at Opelousas Junior High. She was a great seamstress, crocheter, and crafter. She leaves behind many handmade treasures especially those given as gifts to family and friends over the years. Joyce will be dearly missed.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Stacey Thibodeaux and husband, Stuart of Rayne; grandchildren, Abbie Thibodeaux and Michael Thibodeaux; one brother, Lawrence Olivier and wife, Norma of Carencro; godchildren, Kristy Prevost of Rayne, Rick Matte of Iowa, Mona Young Benoit of Orange, TX and Cheryl Olivier of Opelousas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, John Batiste Benoit; parents, Josephine and Clement Olivier, Sr.; sisters, Eura Olivier Lejeune, Rella Olivier Boudreaux, Genora Olivier Matte and infant, Mary Ann Olivier; brothers, Murphy Olivier, Raymond Olivier (infant), Edmond “Blackie” Olivier, Gelton Olivier, Clement “Junior” Olivier, Jr., and Willen Olivier.
