Joshua Gaines

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Joshua Paul Gaines, known to many as Josh. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will be the celebrant for the Mass.
Josh was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 20. He was a 2010 graduate of Opelousas High School and was currently working at Logan Farms in Lafayette. As a pastime, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and skateboarding. He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Josh will continue to be a blessing to many others through the gifts of life which he is providing through his donation to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency And he will be forever our Hero
Josh is survived by his parents, Paul David Gaines III and Vickie Brown Gaines of Opelousas one sister, Laura Lynn Gaines of Opelousas his maternal grandparents, Voorhies and Norma Brown of Washington aunts and uncles: Freddy Gaines of Opelousas Donald Gaines of Mamou Lisa Gaines of Grand Prairie Donna Sibille of Washington Mary Purvis of Jena and Mark Brown and wife, Katrina of Opelousas and his godparents, Donald Gaines of Mamou and Cherie Webb of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul David Gaines, Jr. and Gloria Gaines.
In Honor of Joshs request, the family is asking you to attend his services in casual style. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. A Rosary service will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Brown, Derik Brown, Donald Gaines, Mark Brown, Randy Nezat, and Dillon Devillier.
