Joseph Eddie Leger, Jr.

Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph Eddie (T-fra) Leger, Jr. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery.

Eddie, Jr., age 80, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Eddie, Jr. was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing and dancing. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Eddie, Jr. is survived by his sons, Hank Leger and wife, Linda Lanclos Leger of Opelousas, Mitchell Leger and wife, Kathy Stelly Leger of Washington; daughter, Bonna Leger Michelli and husband, Barry Michelli of Pierre Part, LA; step-son, Timmy Thomassee and wife, Sheila of Lewisburg; step-daughter, Terrie Thomassee Lavergne and husband, Jonathan Lavergne of Lewisburg; brothers, Martin Leger, Sr. and wife, Cindy of Pecaniere and Leroy Leger and wife, Cheryl of Port Barre; sisters, Leona Leger of Pecaniere and Maire Comeaux of Port Barre; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Versa Marcott.

Eddie, Jr. is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Eddie Leger, Sr. and Hester Leger; brother, Lawerance Leger; sister, Pearl Deville, Jane Vidrine and Nevalee Vidrine.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
