Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Joseph "Toby" Wilson Young, Jr., on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Toby, age 66, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He enjoyed wood working and drawing but his passion was remodeling houses. Toby was also known for his superb landscaping skills. He was strong in his faith and a dedicated member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre where he served as an usher. Toby's favorite thing of all was spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Toby is survived by his two daughters, Dodi Ryder (Matthew) of Port Barre and Kylie Thibodeaux (Jason) of Pecaniere; his sister, Emma Jane "Butch" Lanclos of Port Barre; grandchildren, Aedan, Tucker and Emmie Thibodeaux and Keaton and Brynlee Ryder; the mother of his children, Barbara Lalonde Young; and his good friend, Burnell Landry.

Toby is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Son" Young, Sr. and Annie Lou Wheaton Young; his sisters, Gloria Smith and Judy Young; and his brother-in law, Will Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jason Thibodeaux, Matthew Ryder, Tory Marcantel, Dale Marcantel, George "Buster" Lanclos, Tommy Ortego and Barrett Ortego. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Keaton Ryder and Tucker and Aedan Thibodeaux.

The family requests visitation be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be recited by Fr. Clint Trahan at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
