Joseph Rob Stretcher
Port BarreFuneral mass for Joseph Rob Stretcher, age 62, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Internment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Msgr Louis Melancon will celebrate the Mass.
Rob was a resident of Washington. He died on Monday, May 24, 2010 in the St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston Texas.
He was employed with Halliburton Service as an Bulk Plant Operator for 36 years. Was also a member of the V.F.W. of Sulplur, LA., and the Tangirnaq Native Village Tribe of Kodiac Alaska.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing golf and pitching horseshoes. He was an avid coin collector and baseball cards.
He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew and loved him. He was a man with a tremendous amount of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his six brothers in law and seven sisters in law that will miss him greatly.
Survivors include his wife Anna Lee Soileau Stretcher of Port Barre, one son: Daniel Emile Stretcher, Sr. and wife Jennifer of Jennings, two daughters: Deborah S. Schwartzenburg and husband George of Baton Rouge, LA., and Dana Ellis and husband Derik of Westlake, LA., and seven grandchildren: Emily, Elizabeth, and Emile Stretcher of Jennings, Joshua, Kayla, Rebecca, and Noah Schwartzenburg of Baton Rouge, one brother Hal King and wife Bovi, of New Plymoth, Idaho, and two sisters: Virginia Griffin and husband Richard of Denver, Colorodo and Mary Ann Bezates of New Plymoth, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph Stretcher and Opal Broxson Stretcher, and one sister Brenda Uriarte.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Thursday, May 27, 2010, from 9 a.m. for the family 10 a.m.. until 10 p.m. for the public. On Friday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home recited by Deacon Mitch Hebert.
A military service will be held at grave side conducted by the Port Barre V.F.W.
