Grand Coteau Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Norris Charles, age 70, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery.
Father James Lambert will celebrate the Mass.
He was a lifelong resident of Arnaudville. He died on Monday, December 12, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System. He was a carpenter for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Jolivette Charles of Arnaudville fours sons: Joseph Nelson Charles and wife, Mable of Lafayette Joseph Anthony Charles and Paula of Arnaudville Rodney Charles and wife, Josie of Houston, TX and David Charles and wife, Debra of Grand Coteau two brothers: J. B. Charles of Houston, TX and Lawrence Larry Chalres of Carencro three sisters: Louverta Sonnier of Arnaudville Delphine William of Cankton and Versie Mouton of Houston, TX 12 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ennis Charles and LouAnna White Charles one sister, Verna Colomb and one brother, Jimmy Lucious Charles.
Pallbearers will be Ronald William, Michael Jolivette, William Johnson, Sammy Hardy, Kenneth Charles, David Charles, Tia Charles, and Nelson Charles. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Charles, Anthony Charles, Loybee White, and J. B. Charles.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Saturday, December 17, 2011, from 8 a.m. for the family and 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for the public.
A Rosary service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Nurses, Doctors, and Staff of the Swing Bed Program of AcadiaSt. Landry Hospital, Opelousas General Health System, and St. Landry Extended Care Hospital.
