Leonville Funeral services for Joseph Charles Noel, 66, will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Reverend Howard Blessing will conduct the services.

Joseph Charles Noel, a native of Arnaudville and resident of Pecaniere, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital at 6:15AM Monday, April 23, 2007 following a brief illness. His adoring family and special friends surrounded him.

A skilled craftsman, Charles or J.C. to many of his friends, was an expert fitter, working for Avondale Shipyards and later Ortis Boat Company. After leaving the shipbuilding industry, he converted his fitting skills to wood and became a master carpenter.

He loved to fish and believed in cleaning and cooking the catch. A great cook, friends and family would look forward to a taste of his coubouillon.

His other love was RVing, traveling and camping with his wife and often with friends.

His true joys, the grandchildren, lovingly call him Poppy and quickly learned that his stern rebukes came from a person with an extra soft heart.
PSurvivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Norma Jane Lalonde of Pecaniere; two sons, Randall Noel and his significant other, Lucy Spears, Kirt Noel and his wife Tricia; his 12 grandchildren, Kylie Noel Barron and husband Kyle, Aaron, Cody, Nicholas, Peyton, Stephan, Alex, Bryson, Spencer, Tori, Rebecca and Brandon; seven siblings, Barbara Noel Hebert and husband Herbert Cafa, Phyllis Noel Robin and husban
