OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am. on Saturday October 19, 2013, at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Joseph Max Miller. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Fr. Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.
Max passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2013 at the age of 89. Max worked at the Greyhound Bus Station from 19461948, then Daly Motor Company of Opelousas from 19481974, and moved on to Manager at Trade Winds Camping Center from 19741988 where he retired. Max was a member of Knights of Columbus 4th degree, W.W.II Vet in the Army Air Corps. He enjoyed fishing, woodworks, painting, and being with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mell Daigle Miller of Opelousas, sons Joseph Max Rick Miller of Opelousas, Dale Miller and wife, Cynthia of Lawtell, Gary Miller and wife, Karla of Opelousas, daughters, Connie Lantier, of Lafayette, and Trista Littell and husband, Benny of Youngsville, sister, Margaret Miller of Denham Springs, grandchildren, Aimee Miller, Mickey Lantier, Melanie Lantier, Hart Littell, Stacey Hopkins, Carly Jean Littell, Sharee Nicole Miller, Alexis Rene Womack, Stephon Ty Miller, Kaitlin Miller and Christian Miller, great grandchildren, Holden Darbonne, Hunter Anderpont, Hayden Miller, Bailee Centeno, Dylan Centeno, Kassy Lantier, Bernard Littell III, Grace Colvin Littell, Kim Hopkins, Gracie Littell, Caleb Littell, Makayla Littell, and Dylan Hopkins.
He was preceded in death his parents, Charles Michael and Mary David Miller, brother, Jake Miller, and Floyd Miller, sisters, Joyce Young and Florence Webber.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, October 18, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 9:30 a.m.
A rosary service will be held on Friday evening in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.
