Port BarreA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am. on Monday October 21, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Joseph Dewey Marks. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Dewey passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at St. Landry Extended Care, at the age of 90. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, riding his golf cart, riding his horse, dancing, listening to French music and mowing his lawn with his John Deere tractor.
Survivors include his wife, Neva Kimble Marks of Palmetto, his children, Nelson Marks and his wife, Janice of Lakeland, LA., Steve Marks and his wife, Tammy of Lakeland, LA., Donna Faye Devalcourt and her husband, Ferrell of Napoleonville, LA., sisters, Joyce Lacoste of Lake Charles, Emilie Moran of Opelousas, Mildred Hardy of Palmetto, Lorena Brennigan of Baton Rouge, eleven grand children, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Sr. and Lucille Marks, son, J.D. Marks, daughter, Barbara Marks, brothers, John, Aristide, and Oscar Marks, sisters, Blanche Quebedeaux, Odille Schexnayder, Louise Marks.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre, on Sunday, October 20, 2013, from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary service will be held on Sunday evening in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.
