Opelousas -A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Lurlin LeJeune, age 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in St. Landry Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mr. Joe was a native of Church Point, was a longtime resident of Opelousas, and was currently residing in Rayne. He passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley. He was retired from the oilfield and worked as a mechanic for many years. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by one son, Dusty Hollier and wife, Margorie of Duson; two step-sons, Sammy Hollier and wife, Paula of Rayne; and Howard Porteous of Crystal Beach, TX; three daughters, Priscilla Dupuis and husband, Eugene of Rayne; June Kate Olivier and husband, John of Estherwood; and Michelle Guidry and husband, Karl of Scott; his fiancé, Eloise David of Rayne; sister, Barbara Matte of Eunice; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin LeJeune and Lena Daigle LeJeune; his previous wife, Bearneace "Miss Bea" Dixson LeJeune; stepdaughter, JoAnn Porteous Strickland; brother, Gerald LeJeune; sister, Diana Ledoux; and grandson, Shawn Dupuis.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
