Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph LeBlanc, age 63, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, followed by interment in the church cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his son James Ray LeBlanc in the same tomb. The Reverend Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Joseph, who was a native of Port Barre and a resident of Opelousas, died at 2:50 p.m. on January, 28, 2011 at his residence.
He was a wonderful musician and band member for the Midnight Riders.
Joseph worked as a machinist at Standard Fittings for many years and he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of more than 14 years, Adrianna LeBlanc of Opelousas five sons, Joseph LeBlanc, JR and wife Jessica of Port Barre, Michael Paul LeBlanc of Prairie Ronde, Curtis Vicknair and wife Mary of Prairie Ronde, Chris Vicknair of Opelousas and Cobey Vicknair of Loreauville four daughters, Lana Hook and husband Troy of Ville Platte, Melanie Hook and husband Shannon of Opelousas, Desiree LeBlanc and fianc D.J. Vicknair, JR of Henderson, and Emily Bergeron and husband Gerald of Prairie Ronde three brothers James LeBlanc and wife Diane of Washington, Arvie LeBlanc and wife Sandra of Leonville, and George LeBlanc and wife Lynn of Opelousas three sisters, Jeanette LeBlanc Dejean and husband Chip of Church Point, Neva LeBlanc of Monroe, and Gertie Boudreaux and husband Clogis of Abbeville daughterinlaw Vanessa Moree and 19 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Treme J. and Eve Janise LeBlanc a son, James Ray LeBlanc two brothers, Michael and Harvey LeBlanc and a sister Geraldine LeBlanc.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Terri Bright, Vanessa Moree, Matt Cookmeyer, Lionel Lavergne, and Gary Carriere. Very special thanks to all of the children for their help during his illness.
Visiting will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre beginning Monday, January 31, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. A rosary will be prayed on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
