Joseph Ervin Joe Stelly

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Ervin Joe Stelly, 72, will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday, August 11, 2007, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell. Father Dan Picard will conduct the Mass.

Mr. Stelly was a native of Port Barre and a resident of Opelousas. He died on Thursday, August 9, 2007, at his residence. He was a tool pusher in the oilfield for many years. He was a devoted husband and loving father, brother, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Mae Stanford Stelly of Opelousas; five daughters: Gayle Arceneaux and husband, Wayne of Opelousas; Judi Stelly of Lafayette; Arlene Oncale and husband, Patrick of Prairieville; and Toni Pitre and husband, Boisy of Opelousas; one brother, Edward James Martin of Port Barre; step brother, Herbert Bergeron of Opelousas; step sister, Eula Mae Leger of Fordoche; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Florance Stelly; his parents, Mason and Ruby Dupre Stelly; and one sister, Barbara Ann Stelly.

Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. noon in the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
