Joseph Colbert Henry, Jr.

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph Colbert Henry, Jr., on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr Jude Thierry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. till time of service in the Sibille Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Joseph Colbert Henry, Jr., a dedicated welder and cherished member of his family, passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on February 17, 1932, in Church Point, Louisiana, Joseph lived a life marked by hard work, integrity, and deep familial bonds. He was employed by Freeport- McMoran.

Joseph served his country honorably in the Army, while stationed in Germany, as testament to his commitment and dedication. After leaving the miltary he had a long career as a welder with Freeport-McMoran.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mercedes A. Henry, whose memory he held dear throughout his life. Joseph was also preceded by his parents, Joseph Colbert, Sr. and Angel Daigle Henry, and his son, Scott A. Henry. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Pearl Johnson and Delia Thibodeaux.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Henry, and his son, Todd J. Henry, and his wife, Pam. He is also survived by his sisters, Theresa Nevel, Glenney Thibodeaux, and Lela Stelly. The warmth of his love and the strength of his spirit will continue to resonate within his family as they remember him fondly.

He was a  hard worker who was always willing to help  neighbors with projects or jobs. Joseph Colbert Henry, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of resilience, dedication, and profound love that will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
