Opelousas A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph Tony Fontenot will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas.
Joseph was a native of Lewisburg, a longtime resident of DeRidder, and was currently residing in Lawtell for the past four years. He passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at his home at the age of 60. He was retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed cooking, eating crawfish, and spending time with his family and many friends. He cherished his time that he shared with his dog, Poopie. He will be sadly missed by all that loved and knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Christiane Fontenot of Lawtell one son, Luke Anthony Fontenot of Baton Rouge stepdaughter, Missy Davis of Abilene, TX stepson, Steve Brister, Jr. of Baton Rouge brother, James Bruce Fontenot and wife, Tommie Sue of Baton Rouge sister, Sandra Fontenot LaCaze and husband, Willie of Pitkin three step grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Arthur Fontenot and Lula Mae Bihm.
The family is requesting visiting hours be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
