Port Barre Funeral services for Joseph H. Dedon better know as BaBa to many people, age 76, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the DedonBowman Cemetery in St. Francisville, LA.
He was a resident of Port Barre. He died on Monday, December 6, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System . He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Joseph was born in Star Hill, LA, and moved to Baton Rouge and was employed at Louisiana State Police Head Quarter for 30 years, and then moved to Port Barre for the last 30 Years. He enjoyed working on appliances and helping his friends with things they needed to do. Joseph loved his children, grandchildren and loved to be with them as much as he could. He was a past member of the Order of The Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his former wife, Jerry Lynn Partin of Clinton, Ark, his son Benjamin Joseph Dedon of Krotz Springs, his daughters Flora D. Jarrell and her husband, Glenn of Kentwood, LA, Misti Frances Jo Dedon Gourgues of Port Allen, and Bett Dedon of Clinton Ark. his sisters Annie Mae Ann Littlefield and Edna Louise Garantine, of Greers Ferry, Ark. Ruby Elizabeth Stark, of Clinton, LA, and Juanita Faye Boze of Central, LA, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr, and Annie Mae Ebey Dedon, and his brothers Frank Jr, Lucien Al and Benjamin Dedon, and one grandson Clay Taylor Minson.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. with an all night wake until time of service on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be, Benjamin J. Dedon, Bett Dedon, Mark E. Dedon, Matthew C. Calhoon, Jonathon E. Dedon, and Arthur Lamke.
Honorary Pallbeares will be Michael Bourque Jr. Vernon Foster, Jr. and Raymond Raef, Jr.
