Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA, for Mr. Joseph Camille Credeur, known to many as Fra. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre, LA. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Joseph was a native and longtime resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 75. He worked as a tool pusher in the oilfield all of his life. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country.
His greatest pastime was being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and loved taking care of his cats. He was a member of the Pan Am Hunting Club in Port Barre. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betina Tina Credeur of Port Barre stepson, Richard Allen Gaultier and wife, Betty of Church Point step grandchildren, Sonya Lejeune and Mesha DHeilly, both of Church Point motherinlaw, Doreen Russum of Flippin, AR four brothers, Harold James Credeur and wife, Judy of Port Barre Wilfred June Credeur, Jr. and wife, Linda of Chackbay Raymond Credeur and wife, Evelyn of Port Allen and Floyd John Credeur and wife, Norma Lee of Port Barre five sisters, Anna Mae McBride of Roscoe, TX Beatrice Fontenot Gayle of Zachary Mary Annie Miller of Opelousas Nelda Rose Stelly and husband, Leeton of Opelousas and Gloria C. Higginbotham and husband, Dean of Washington and a host of nieces, nephews, great and greatgreat nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred B. Credeur, Sr. and Anita Roy Credeur sisters, Willie Mae Credeur Lalonde and Shirley Jean Credeur Dupuis and his fatherinlaw, William A. Bill Russum.
Pallbearers will be Dean Higginbotham, Richard Gaultier, Shawn Credeur, Wilfred Credeur III, Brad Higginbotham, and Jason Credeur.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the ICU staff at OGH for the wonderful care given to Mr. Fra and may God bless everyone.
