Joseph Lee Cormier
Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph “Lee” Cormier on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Joseph “Lee”, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the age of 86, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph “Lee” was a member of Seafarers Union for 65 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors farming and tending to his garden. Joseph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph “Lee” is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Thibodeaux Cormier; son, Tony Cormier and wife, Margaret of Princeton, LA; daughters, Marcia Wyble and husband, Brent of Opelousas, Carrie Soileau and husband, Gerald of Port Barre, and Vina Marie Elkins and husband, Ross of Sunset; 10 grandchildren, Ethan Joseph Cormier, Aaron Michael Cormier, Daniel Mychal Aragon, Joseph Lee Soileau , Jordan Michael Soileau, Connor Michelle Meche, Chelsey Bihm, Cameron Wyble, Hunter Wyble and Brittany Elkins; 8 great-grandchildren, Asher Michael Cormier, Violet Olivia Aragon, Daniel Mychal Aragon, Jr., Collins Elizabeth Ortego, Wells Matthew Meche, Evie Lane Soileau, Andie Reese Leger, and Everleigh Wyble.
Joseph “Lee” is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Cormier and Vina Meche Cormier; brother, Gervis Cormier.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Cormier, Aaron Cormier, Cameron Wyble, Hunter Wyble, Joseph Soileau and Jordan Soileau.
