Joseph Charles

Grand Coteau- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph "Joe" Nelson Charles will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Charles Catholic Church Cemetery.

Joe, age 53, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016, at Opelousas General Health System after a brief illness. He was a native of Grand Coteau and was a resident of Lafayette. Joe worked at Barry's Nursery in Grand Coteau. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and enjoyed listening to music. Joe especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and sitting on his front porch and waving hello to all who passed.

Joe is survived by his companion, Mable Alfred of Lafayette; mother, Alma Jolivette Charles of Grand Coteau, daughters, Naquisha Charles of Lafayette, Nadreika Charles of Church Point; brothers, Joseph Anthony Charles of Grand Coteau, David Charles of Grand Coteau, Rodney Charles of Texas and five grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Norris Charles and son, Joseph N. Charles, Jr.

The visiting hours will be held from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau. A Rosary service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
