It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Joseph Clarence Callahan, Jr., age 75, originally of Bunkie, Louisiana and residing in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. Joe passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 12:25 p.m. His family was at his side at the time of his departure from this life.
Joe was the oldest child of Joseph Clarence Callahan, Sr. and Bernice Barnidge Callahan. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Kaye and Carmen.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; two children, Benjamin and Carrie; his brother, Clark; and grandchildren, Walker, Lola and West; stepchildren, Jason Huguet, Nicki Boutte and Adam Carter; 6 step-grandchildren and 2 step-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas, LA, commencing at 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant in Washington, Louisiana.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Benjamin Callahan, Douglas Anderson, Jr., Walker Trevillion, West Ormsby, Jason Huguet and Adam Carter, Don Meeker, and Wayne Marceaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe’s closest friends from Bunkie High School Class of 1964.
Joe will be sadly missed. He was a friend and entrepreneur, a father and grandfather, a husband and last but not least, a legend.
The family wants to thank the Lourdes Hospice and his private nurses, Alana Mayo and Shawn Kennison.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made in his memory to Lourdes Hospice or the Miles Perret Cancer Center.
