Joseph L. Arceneaux
Grand Coteau Funeral services for Joseph L. Arceneaux, 91, will be held at 2:00PM Friday, May 4, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Coteau. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
The Reverend Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.
Mr. Arceneaux, a native of Grand Coteau and resident of Opelousas, died at 6:45PM Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Senior Village Nursing Home.
Mr. Arceneaux was a veteran of World War II, having served on the European front in the U.S. Army under General George S. Patton. He was a member of the Sunset American Legion Post 237 and a member of the Second Armored Division Association. Mr. Arceneaux was an honored member of the Lewisburg and Broussard volunteer fire departments. He was the founder of Arceneaux Park in Broussard and a member of the Exxon Annuitant's Club.
Survivors include: wife of over sixty years, Margaret Hunt Arceneaux of Opelousas; son, Donald J. Arceneaux and wife Gerry of Opelousas; two sisters, Iris LeBlanc of Lafayette and Goldie Kronenberg of Garden Grove, CA; God daughter, Becky Gaspard; two grandchildren, Charlene Chautin and husband Andrew and Eliska Leday; four great grandchildren, Jayden Rose Leday, Dominique Leday, Miriah Leday and Abigail Rayne Chautin..
Mr. Arceneaux was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Maude Andrus Arceneaux; an infant son; two brothers, Charles and E.J. Arceneaux; two sisters, Ruby Blum and Patsy Ruth Arceneaux and a great grandchild Aaron Juan Chautin.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau starting Thursday, May 3, 2007 from 5-9PM and will reopen on Friday at 8AM until service time. A rosary will be recited at 7:00PM.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau.
