John Will Smith
Opelousas- Funeral services for John Wilbur Will Smith, age 78, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass of Christian burial.
Will was born in Lawtell, LA and was a resident of Opelousas. He died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at his home in Opelousas. Mr. Will served his country In the U.S. Marine Corp. He obtained the rank of Sergeant and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After service he severed as a respected loan officer In the Finance business for most of his adult life. He loves spending time with his family. He was extremely friendly to everyone and was full of spirit and life. He was a very wonderful dad, son, brother, brother-In- law, and friend he will be sadly missed by all.
Mourning his death yet cherishing his memories are his children: one son Brother Smith, of Lafayette, and one daughter; Peggy Smith Domingue, of Raleigh, NC. One brother; Levoys Smith, of Opelousas, and three sisters; Juanita Babineaux, and Melba Latiolais, of Opelousas, and Ella Mae Soileau of Port Barre. Also a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife Gloria Young Smith; his parents Oneal and Ernestine Smith; his brother Levy Smith, and two sisters Veto Boudreaux, and Lillian Bourgeois.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 16, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. And will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
