John Speyrer

Opelousas Private Funeral graveside services for Mr. John Allan Speyrer, age 79, were held on Saturday, August 20, 2011, in the St. Leo the Great Cemetery in Leonville.

He was a native of Leonville, LA, and a resident of Opelousas, LA for many years. He died on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home of Opelousas.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Economics. He was a retired sales tax collector for the St. Landry Parish School Board. He was a member of the Opelousas Rotary Club and Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on computers and studying Primal Psychotherapy. He established The Primal Psychotherapy Page where he was able to share many resources of information.

Survivors include one brother, Gene Speyrer of Opelousas three nieces, three nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Speyrer and Bernadette Prevost Speyrer and one sister, Geraldine Speyrer Ecuyer.
