Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John Ray Soileau at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville. Fr. Darren Eldridge will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville.
John Ray, age 88, a resident of Leonville, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019. John Ray was in the US Army serving in the Korean War Conflicted.
He is survived by son, John Donald “Deedy” Soileau of Leonville, daughters, Maria Jerrlyn “Jerri” Marks and her husband Joey of Arnaudville, Deborah Latiolais and husband Carl of Denver, North Carolina, Chantel Lafleur and husband, Ricky of Leonville, and Carol Mason and her husband Scott Miller of Iron Stadium, North Carolina, sister, Judy Mire and her husband, Raphael of Bayou Chicot, grandchildren, Christopher Mallet, Seth Marks, Nicholas Mason, and great grand-children, Jacob and Alex Mallet.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hillary Soileau and Ethel Stears Soileau, and his loving wife, Joyce Lanclos Soileau.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
