John Robert Bobby Smith

Opelousas Funeral services for John Robert Bobby Smith, age 66, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010, in the St. Leo Catholic Church. Interment will followed in the New St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville.
Fr. Ken Domingue will celebrate the Mass.
Bobby was a native of Arnaudville and a long time resident of Pecaniere. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served for four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a long time member of the K.C. Council in Leonville 4023 and also a past Grand Knight. Bobby worked as a Valve Tech for Weatherford Gas Lift Division in Lafayette, LA, for many years until his retirement.
Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cooking for family and friends. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Those who knew him and loved him will miss him greatly but they know he is now in a better place.
Survivors include his wife of many years, Elizabeth Mayer Smith of Pecaniere, his two sons: Brian Robert Smith and wife Dacia of Pecaniere, and Jody Paul Smith and wife Katie of Leonville, his four brothers: Henry Lee Smith of Lafayette, Harold Smith of New Iberia, Charles Smith of Denham Springs, and Donald Smith of Pecaniere, one sister: Henrietta Lagrange of Arnaudville, five grandchildren: Kaleb, Brooke, Grant, Chloe, and Makenzie.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph Henry Smith and Mildred Wills Smith.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from 1 p.m. 9 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. 12:30 p.m.
A Rosary service will held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night.
