Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. John Edward Robin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville, LA. Rev. Benji Richard will conduct the services.
John was born in Lafayette, LA, and was a long time resident of Port Barre, LA. He departed on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at his home surrounded by family. He worked as a tugboat captain for Devall Towing Boat Services LLC for 13 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar in a band with his friends, riding motorcycles and collecting antique cars. He was a loving and cherishing husband, father, brother, and grandfather. His family and friends will miss his comical personality and spirit.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Lellia Leger Robin of Port Barre his daughter, Tiffany R. Savoy of Port Barre one sister, Jo Ann R. Conway and husband, Richard of Krotz Springs four grandchildren, Madelyn Troy Mistrot, Zahne Anthony Savoy, Jean Hooks, and Jolene Clark and one nephew, Richard Conway II of Krotz Springs.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Scarlett Andrea Robin and his parents, Pierre Roy Robin and Laura Robin.
Pallbearers will be Henry Kelly, Todd Stelly, Todd Doucet, Leland Badeaux, Richard Conway II, and Mack Estillette. Honorary pallbearers will be Zahne Savoy and Jean Hooks.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to express deep and sincere gratitude to everyone who has shown love and concern during the illness and death of our loved one. Special thanks to the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care especially Monica Savoie for their great medical care and also to the staff of Devall Towing Boat Services LLC for their kindness and caring for 13 years.
