OPELOUSAS – A Funeral Service will be held for John Paul Stelly on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Pastor Mike Fitzgerald will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
John, age 86, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas.
John served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 4 years in active-duty status. Upon retirement he worked for 30 years with Lockheed Martin Space Center in Mandeville, LA. John will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife of 7 years, Joyce Guidroz Stelly; sons, John Wayne Stelly (Alice) of Arnaudville, Stanley Stelly (Mary) of Mandeville and Eddie Stelly (Jackie) of Covington; daughter, Patricia Stelly of Ville Platte; stepsons, Ricky Wyble (Tanya) of Leonville and John Wyble (Misty) of Frankleton; stepdaughter, Debbie Wyble Guillory (Ronald) of Leonville and Karen Wyble Saizan (Scott) of Port Barre; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his former wife, Virgie Deranger Stelly; son, Theodore “Ted” Stelly; parents, Eddie and Agnes Stelly; and brother, Edmond Ray Stelly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be John Wayne Stelly, John Stelly, Stanley Stelly, Eddie Stelly, Ricky Wyble, John Wyble, Scott Saizan and Carlos Stelly.
